Best Body Sunscreens That Keep Mature Skin Protected and Moisturized

It’s that time of year again. Warm weather and beach trips are in the works. If you are like me, one of the many sun related products that you pack is your body sunscreens. Yes, even if we aren’t planning time at the pool or beach body sunscreen is something that we need to pack.

Body sunscreens are just as important as our face sunscreen. I even have a hand lotion sunscreen that I carry around with me during the warm months. Sun exposure sure can sneak up on us if we don’t protect our skin. Just think if we had been this adamant about sunscreen when we were young how much we would save at the dermatologist and aesthetician now that we are older and wiser. If only we had had this WebMD information when we were younger about the effects of sun on our skin.

Body Sunscreens to Keep Your Mature Skin Looking Its Best

If you are like me whe you are getting ready to go on a trip you have a few packing lists. I know that I usually have a list of things to buy because my products may have expired and the last thing I want is to have to search for products I like and trust when I am away from home. So here’s what my list includes before any warm weather destination trip.

Whew. That was more products that I thought. I guess you can never be too prepared to keep our skin protected and moisturized while enjoying the outdoors. Now let’s take a look at some good body sunscreen options. Sometimes it’s good for us to learn about some new products. Even though we have our favorites, it’s good to keep an open mind. Who knows. There might be something out there that works better and smells better than what you have been using.

Clean Beauty Body Sunscreens

If you have been following me for a while, then you know that I have been trying to “clean up” the products that I use on my skin. Little by little I am changing over to clean products. Yes, I have written about my clean beauty journey too. Here are some clean products that I have either used and liked or have in my “to try” list.

SuperGoop!

Supergoop! is an award winning clean sunscreen. It is a hydrating formula that absorbs into the skin quickly. What’s nice is that this broad spectrum sunscreen is also water resistant so it is good for swimmers, runners, or outdoor activity lovers that plan on sweating. Supergoop! Play SPF50 comes in multiple sizes so you can find one that is easy to pack or buy a big pump bottle that will take care of the whole family all season long.

Supergoop! also has a mineral sunscreen formula that is SPF 30. The other nice formulat that they have is the Glow Screen Sunscreen. Yes, a clean sunscreen that also has a little tint to it. Great for those of us who like a litle color.

Native

Ok, Native is best known for their clean deodorant. I also use their toothpaste because it is clean and gluten free. Now they have come out with sunscreen products.

Yes, they have an SPF 30 for the body with zinc oxide that comes in four scents: Sweet Peach & Nectar, Coconut & Pineapple, Rose, and Unscented. Don’t those scents sound amazing. In my opinion, their deodorants always smell good. They also make a face suncreen that is clean. I can’t wait to try these.

Mineral Body Sunscreen

Many of these mineral sunscreens also fall into the other two categories. Some people really like mineral suncrens and find that they work well for their skin so I wanted to separate them out for that reason. These can also be clean beauty products.

Beauty Counter

Beauty Counter is a clean beauty brand that I have heard many people rave about. Their mision is to get cleaner beauty products into the hands of everyone. They have a complete line of makeup, skincare, and bath and body products. Their Countersun Sunscreen kept coming up in all of my searches about the best body sunscreens.

The sunscreen is clean, SPF 30, protects against UVA and UVB rays, and is water resistant for 40 minutes. Beauty Counter products are available on their website.

Coola

Coola is a suncare and skincare company that uses 70% or more organic ingredients in every formula that they produce. Their SPF 50 Classic Sunscreen is known for being as natural and good for your skin as it is protective. If organic ingredients are high on your list when buying skin care products then this is the suncare line for you. You can find their full line of products at Amazon.

Cruelty Free Body Sunscreen

Cruelty free products mean that the products are never tested on animals, including their raw materials. When it comes to sunscreens that means that they are also reef safe. There are two ingedients that have been banned in Hawaii because of their harmful effects upon reefs, oxybenzone and octinoxate. So when you see that sunscreens are “reef safe” that means that they do not contain these two harmful to the environment ingredients.

Sun Bum

Sun Bum is a waterproof, oil free, and reef friendly broad spectrum sunscreen. It shields from UVA and UVB rays and won’t clog your pores. The wonderful scent of their sunscreen will transport you to the tropics.

It comes in an SPF 50 or SPF 30 formula that is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. It is a good value for the sun protection that it provides. You can find Sun Bum products at Amazon or Target.

We have used this product a lot in the past. Mark loves the scent and he really likes their lip sunscreen for everyday lip sun protection.

Alba Botanica

Alba Botanica Mineral Sunscreen is one that is made for sensitive skin. Their SPF 45 sunscreen is a plant-based formula and is 100% vegetarian. Soothing ingredients such as green tea and aloe are in their formulas. They are also reef friendly and water resistant up to 80 minutes. Body Sunscreen Made for Darker Skin

Black Girl Sunscreen

Black Girl Sunscreen is made for women with dark skin. Yes, this product line is made so that it does not go on white and leave a white cast to the skin. They make a moisturizing SPF 30 for the body and an SPF 45 gel for the face.

A friend of mine was so excited when this product came out. We were talking one day about how much she liked having sun protection that was just for her dark skin tone. You can find their line of products at Ulta.
