Summer Neutrals, Interesting or Boring

Summer neutrals…..so do you think of them as interesting or boring? They can be both in my opinion. As a stand alone, they can be pretty lifeless. But with the right accessories and color combinations they are some of the best pieces to have in your wardrobe.
Recently, I hopped into my local Dillards. Hadn’t been in the store in forever. Honestly, I am more of an online shopper due to the fact that I rarely find my size. While the Antonio Melani (their store brand) line had some of the most amazing colors for this summer, the summer neutrals really stood out for me.

Why I Like to Stock Up on Summer Neutrals
This is the time of year that I like to stock up on summer neutrals. Spring and summer tops and bottoms are great transitional pieces from summer to fall. Here in the south, we have Indian summer many falls. If you’re not familiar with it, good old Farmer’s Almanac describes it beautifully. That means warm days many years until mid October. That is when I find myself looking for lightweight pieces that look like fall. Trust me on this, add a few summer neutrals to your wardrobe that you find on sale now and see how often you pull them out in September and October.
What Sale Pieces I Shop for This Time of Year
I like to shop for sleeveless, short sleeve, and 3/4 length sleeve tops. The sleeveless and short sleeve tops make great layering pieces. Here in the south we can’t pull out the long sleeved layers until January so these really come in handy. The 3/4 length tops are great stand alones until mid October and then you will bring them back out in March.
Here are some great tops from Antonio Melanie that I promise you will reach for this fall.
Sale shopping for dark colored shorts and summer neutral pants are also on my radar list now. Tans, dark green, and black all come in handy for the Indian summer days. Here are a few that I found that are keepers.
Your accessories can help you find some great darker colors to add to your neutral colored ensembles. Below are necklaces and tops from my wardrobe that totally changed the look of these dark green shorts and will work on those Indian summer days this fall. Look thru your accessories and see what colors can help you transition your wardrobe from summer to early fall. I promise there is something in there that will inspire you.
Thanks for reading and I hope you become a fan of buying summer neutrals on sale for your fall transition pieces like me. If you didn’t see last week’s post on the amazing off the shoulder top from Antonio Melani you can see it here. Remember to have a little SASs in your day.
Hugs,
