Let’s face it a great-fitting pair of white jeans is a wardrobe staple for every woman. Short, tall, curvy, or straight body— the white jean is a go-to for most of us. White jeans are something that you can pull out year-round to create all sorts of great looks. You can wear them casually, dressed up for date night, or even with a jacket for a business casual look. However, when you are petite there are a few things to keep in mind when you are wearing them. We always want to look our best so let’s look at how we can do that in our favorite pair.

Do’s & Don’ts of Wearing White Jeans When You are Petite
The Fit of Your Jeans
Having the right fit is the key to looking great in your jeans. You want to make sure that they fit and hug you in all the right places, but you don’t want them to be too tight. Many times it is a good idea to size up in white jeans. Any white bottom can highlight areas of our body that we don’t love. We want to conceal the things that we don’t love, not accentuate them. That is why the next two things should be considered before you wash and wear them.
Weight of the Fabric
The weight of the fabric is so important when it comes to white jeans. You want to make sure that they have enough stretch so that they will hold their shape. I have found the best fabric content to be 95% cotton or higher.
What you don’t want is the fabric to be see thru. Not a good look. So when trying on, please make sure you look at not only how your jeans fit from the front view, but also the side and back views.
What to Wear Under Your Jeans
One thing that we don’t want with white jeans are visible panty lines (VPLs). Not a good look under anything that is white. Nude undergarments always look best. There are several styles of panties that you can wear so that they are no panty lines. Just depends upon which cut you like. Here are some that I have tried and liked under white in the past.
- Commando boy shorts
- Commando cotton thong
- Hanky Panky low rise lace thongs
- Spanx Undie tectable lace hipster

Style White Jeans to Look Taller and Leaner
What petite woman doesn’t want to look taller and leaner. There are a few tricks that you can easily do to acheive a slimming silhouette.
- Wear white from top to bottom for a monochromatic look. Just mix up the textures of the fabric or even find a blouse with a tone-on-tone pattern.
- Wear high waisted jeans. That always does the trick to make your legs look longer.
- For summer look for a good fitting cropped white jean. Try a mid-rise, straight leg. That is a style that is flattering and easy to wear in multiple ways.
- Remember to stick with clean lines. Proportion is always key. For example, when pairing your jeans with a jacket you may want to make sure it hits at the waist versus the hips. That way you are accentuating your waistline, not your hips. When wearing white on the bottom it is very easy to make the hips look wider than they are.
Tops to Wear With Your Jeans
The question of whether to tuck or not to tuck. This depends upon your body type and the rise of your jeans. With high rise jean, I personally prefer a shirt that is tucked in. You do have to make sure that the shirt fabric is not too heavy or it will add bulk to your middle. The other thing to check is to make sure that the shirt fabric doesn’t bleed thru the white jeans. You can wear a longer tunic type top if you are wearing a skinny leg jean. Just make sure that the tunic is not too long or too flowy. You can read my tips on how to wear a tunic top when you are petite.
With midrise jeans, you may choose to wear a shorter top that hits just below your waistline. The other option is to just tuck in a corner of the top just to give some shape and show off your waistline. This works well with t-shirts and more casual tops.
Choose the Right Shoe
Shoes can make or break an outfit. The goal with white bottoms is to continue the long line for petites. So the best shoes to wear with a white pant are going to be a nude, white, or soft metallic. Pointed toes will always elongate the foot which is usually a good thing for petites.
For a very casual look a great all white sneaker that is not to “heavy” is a good idea. A couple of my favorite white sneakers for petite feet are the Superga Cotu Classic, the Tretorn Rawlins, and the Veja white leather.
THANKS
Finding the cut of jeans that looks best on your body does take some effort. There are many different styles to choose from. Just keep trying until you find THE pair that you are comfortable in and makes you feel great when you wear them. Once you have done that, then I suggest you buy that jeans in multiple washes.
