An Off the Shoulder Top: Perfect for Baring Just Enough

An Off the Shoulder Top is a summer must have. This style of top is great for baring just enough skin without showing too much. Honestly, I have never heard a woman say that she has an “issue” with her shoulders. Making an off the shoulder top the perfect choice as we head into the dog days of summer heat and humidity.
Recently I stopped into my local Dillard’s and this top just jumped off the rack. Honestly, I was not looking for one. It just screamed “please try me on”. I couldn’t believe it. The fit is perfect. Here’s why it had to come home with me.
- The positioning of the sleeves is just right. You don’t feel like you have to tug on them all of the time.
- The amount of elastic used makes sure the sleeves stay put.
- The fabric is 98% cotton with 2% elastane so there is just enough stretch so that it keeps its shape and lays beautifully.
- It’s lined.
By the way, it also comes in three solid colors Blue, Black, and White.
Top | Jeans | Handbag similar | Bracelet | Pumps
I paired this fun spin on classic blue and white with white jeans, blue pumps, and a simple clutch for meeting friends for a casual dinner. I think it could be paired it with a slip skirt or a pencil skirt for a dressier look. Love the idea of a blue one or a yellow one to add some fun color.
My Favorite Pumps
I always have to make sure that I tell you about my favorite pumps of all time. These are my Sarah Flint Perfect Pumps. They are truly the most comfortable pumps I have ever worn. I own them in several colors and I am sure that more will find their way into my closet in the future as she designs new seasonal colorways. My favorite height is the 3″, but she makes all colors in a kitten heel and then a 4″ sky high version. She rarely has sales, but you can always use my Brand Ambassador code SARAHFLINT-BABETHF for $50 your first purchase. Her things are sold online only .
Must Haves for Styling an Off the Shoulder Blouse
I think that one of the reasons many of us stay away from off the shoulder and one shoulder blouses is that we don’t like to wear a strapless bra. As a petite, my favorite strapless bra is by Simone Perele. The other strapless bra that gets rave reviews is this one by Wacoal. The next time I need one, this is what I plan to order.
The other thing that I find comes in handy as I age is a zipper pull. Yes, many of us aren’t as flexible as we used to be and sometimes there’s not someone around to help us with those pesky zippers. Two options for zipper helpers (here and here) that I think would be handy for everyone’s closet. I wrote a post about my Closet Must Haves That Aren’t Clothes and I think I need to update it to include one of these gadgets. There are some handy things in this post if you haven’t read it.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post today. Do you have any off the shoulder tops in your closet? If not, I hope this helps give you the confidence to wear one with a little SASs.
Hugs,
Sometimes when you walk into a store and something catches your eye and you want to try it, there is an option that you will never regret when you try it. The shoulder detailed blouse is a piece that should really stand out for you. I say as a designer, these pieces really come to the fore in life.
Yes. It is not something that I normally gravitate to, but it had to come home with me. Thank you.
Love love love this combo. I will definitely purchase that blouse and I can wear with my navy Sarah Flint’s.
That’s right. You have blue suede shoes from Sarah Flint too. I also think you have a great blue Carlisle skirt it would work with too. Take a look in the closet.
Beautiful top! I can see why it dove into your cart. 😊
And the zipper pulls are a great idea. I clicked on both and what great prices.
Yes, she’s a beauty. I’m so glad I walked past her rack in the store. I think zipper pulls are a must have for everyone’s closet. No matter our age.
