How to Look Sassy in Sneakers Over 50

Oh sneakers, how I love thee. I don’t know about you, but most days I have places to go, things to get done, people to see. Reality is that I walk and move much faster in a pair of sneakers than any other footwear. How about you? Yes, my friends, we can look sassy in sneakers at any age.

There are so many choices in sneakers these days. They are not just for working out. BTW, we will not be wearing our workout sneakers when we want to look sassy. The types of sneakers that we are going to talk about are fashionable sneakers and the classics. Our options to style them and look chic at the same time are endless. So think about wearing them with casual dresses, skirts, jeans, and casual slacks.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind To Look Sassy in Sneakers

  • If you must wear socks with your sneakers, make sure that they are no show socks. Here are some that work for my feet.
  • Always show skin between your sneaker and your jeans, joggers, dress, or skirt. Jeans/pants should hit 1-2″ above your ankle bone.
  • Buy some sneakers that you LOVE and you will ALWAYS find a way to wear them.

Make Sure You Keep Your Sneakers Clean

Most of us tend to lean towards white sneakers in the summer months. Actually you can wear them year round. Think white sneakers, cute blue blazer, a buttondown and jeans for fall and early spring. What we need to make sure of is that we keep our sneakers clean. There are preventative things that you can do as well as general cleaning. My favorite place to go for all sorts of cleaning hacks is WikiHow. They never let me down.

Fashion Sneakers versus Classics

Fashion sneakers are versatile, comfortable and on-trend shoes for the season. That doesn’t mean that they only last one season, but they are a modern version of the lace up tennis shoe or the slip on sneaker. Just like a classic shoe, a classic sneaker is simple in shape and design. Today we actually see many of the older classic versions like the Stan Smiths coming back into fashion. Talk about a classic from the 80s.

So let’s take a look at some fashion sneakers and some good classics. Trust me on this ladies, your closet should have a pair of each in it/

Fashion Sneakers

I must say that Marmi Shoes has really caught my eye for cute, affordable fashion sneakers. Whether you want a flat sneaker or one on a platform, they have got you covered. When I went into the store recently, I had a hard time choosing which pair to add to my closet this season. In the pictures, you will see that I have the Yolen with the fun silver and gold stars. I will be wearing these all summer and I can picture them this fall with jeans and joggers. You can use my code, SAS10 for 10% off, on cute fashion sneakers or any shoes at Marmi. Here are some of my favorites.

Classic Sneakers

Now who doesn’t own a great pair of Ked tennis shoes? I have been wearing those longer than I can remember. You can now find them in leather as well as the original canvas and color options. There are so many other brands that have been around forever when you think of the classic white tennis shoe/sneaker. Some are all white, while others may have a little touch of color on them. You can’t go wrong with having a pair of pure white sneakers that are comfortable. They will take you oh so many places comfortably. Below are a few of my favorite classics and retro styles for looking sassy.

The text that is underlined and shows up in a different color is usually a link to another blog post that I have written, another site, or a product.  The links to a product are affiliate links.  What that means is that if you click on a link to a product and make a purchase, Sassy for Short (a.k.a Beth) gets a small commission at no extra cost to you.  The same goes if you click on any of the pictures to get more information about a product. Also, some items may be gifted to me, but opinions about the products are always my own. I really appreciate you supporting the brands that make it possible for me to keep this blog going!

I do love my sneakers. They don’t get much love in the summer months, but come fall, I can’t wait to pull them out.
