Beach and destination weddings are becoming more and more popular these days. Why not combine such a special day with a little vacation with good friends and family? If you are like me, you prefer to purchase something that you can wear more than once. Beach wedding guest dresses are the one type of dress that is easy to re-wear.

My advice is to start shopping early. That way you will find something that you really love and make you feel like a million bucks. We don’t want to outshine the bride or the wedding party, but there is no reason not to love what you are wearing. Beach or destination wedding guest dresses are a bit easier because there are always so many dress options for the warm weather months.

Before we look at dresses for your upcoming beach wedding here are some other posts I have written that you might want to check out. I do write a lot about petite-friendly fashion.

Beach Wedding Guest Dresses You Will Wear Again and Again

Whether you are going to a beach wedding that is near where you live or if you are jetsetting off to a Caribbean Island you want to love the dress that you wear as a guest. Most likely the event is not going to be too formal. It is as the beach after all.

There are a few things that you want to keep in mind when you are looking for the perfect dress. Most likely the weather will be quite warm and you will be outside.

  • Lightweight fabric
  • Something that is not too form fitting
  • A style that is flowy, but won’t show everything if a strong wind blows

Dress Styles That Are Great to Pack for a Destination Wedding

If you are at a loss as to where to start for what to wear just look to the colors of the area that you are going to be traveling to. If you are off to the Caribbean, think of the gorgeous blues and greens of the water. The other thing to think about is the colors of the flower that are indigenous to the area. Have some fun with your color choices. Hopefully, you will have some great memories from the trip that will be triggered every time you wear the beach wedding guest dresses afterward.

My preference for an event like this is either a midi dress or a maxi dress. I just find that you are more comfortable and these two lengths tend to have flowier skirts on them for the beach breezes. Hopefully, you will be there ahead of the big event so you can have a tan to show off in your dress.

Midi Dresses

Midi dresses are a great option for a trip to the beach and beyond. They can be a very versatile length to have in the closet. One of my favorite brands for midi dresses this season is Karen Millen. Many are available in regular and petite sizing.

This dress is a great example of a dress that you can wear over and over again with a quick change of accessories. For the beach pair it with a more tropical handbag like this and when home pair it back to a metallic. Now if you are going to a fancy resort one of my favorite brands for special occasion dresses is Sachin & Babi. I love this midi dress for a beach wedding.

Hopefully, these midi dresses will help you find a dress that you will enjoy wearing to your event and for many other occasions.

Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are another great choice because most of the time they will be nice and flowy so you can take advantage of the breezes and not have to worry about showing anything that you don’t want to show. They can be quite casual or they can be very dressy depending upon the designer.

For weddings at a fancy resort, I love this high/low dress and this cotton wrap dress. For colorful floral dresses that are a bit more casual, I love Banjanan and you can find them here and here.

Here are some maxi dresses that caught my eye to wear to an event and many other times so that you can enjoy such a pretty dress.

Accessories that Will Come in Handy for Your Trip

Since you are traveling you will want to pack shoes and handbags that go with your other outfits as well. When it comes to the beach I always prefer to wear wedges or block heels. To me, they are just easier with all of the sand around.

Shoes

So that you have versatility with the other things that you have packed nude shoes or metallics are probably the best to pack. I also really like the nude clear shoes like these and these.

These metallic kitten heels would be great with so many dress options and comfortable for standing. This is another excellent metallic shoe that comes in various shades of metallic. I have them in gold and they are very comfortable.

Handbags

A good clutch to have for the evening is something like this acrylic and rattan. This raffia handbag comes in a few neutral colors and would also be quite versatile.

A classic clutch that I have had for years and love is this one. I pull it out year after year for some occasion. Love that they are offering it in so many fun colors with J.Crew this season.
