Ahhh. That first crisp morning. Something that so many of us look forward to after the sweltering heat and humidity of summer. We are ready to trade our sandals for loafers and boots. The thought of being able to layer and wear textures makes us smile. So now is the time to start watching for some of the fall 2024 fashion trends.

Knowing what you will be seeing early on is a good thing. You have time to go through your closet and plan. For those of you who follow me regularly, you know that I love my classics with a modern twist on them. I am not a fall fashion trend or any trend chaser. Sprinkling a little into my wardrobe so that it works for me and my lifestyle is always the goal. I hope that you can peruse this list and do so as well.

Fall 2024 Fashion Trends You Will Want To Know

Yes, we want to make sure that we know what the fall 2024 fashion trends are. However, trends are just that trends. They can come and go. What’s always interesting is that many of them reappear after some time away. This is one of those years that you will see a few “blasts from the past”. I must say that I am excited about a few of those.

I also want to note that the trends I am highlighting could be good for all body types. What I focus on is the trends that I think will work best for petite women. That is my “wheelhouse” so to speak. This list is just a preview of what is to come in the next couple of months so let’s get our minds ready for the season.

Before we dive into the fall 2024 fashion trends here are a few things to keep in mind.

If embracing a trend, wear only one fall 2024 fashion trend at a time. You want to let it shine.
Not all trends are for everyone. We all have our own unique body shape. Wear the styles and trends that work for you.
Weave the trends in with your own personal style. That is when you look and feel your best.

Fall Trends I Can’t Wait To Wear

Leopard

Get ready to see a lot of animal print this fall and winter. I love a good leopard print in tones of brown and black. If you don’t like to wear the traditional leopard print colors against your face never fear. You will find this print available in skirts, shoes, and handbags. You know some great accessories can make an outfit sing.

Brown Coats

We saw bits of chocolate brown this summer and it made me smile. This fall you are going to see a lot more of it. You will see various shades of brown everywhere this fall and winter. On the runways, lots and lots of brown faux fur coats. Another brown coat that you will be seeing is the brown leather jacket. Easy to pair with denim or with black.

If the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is an indicator, we will be seeing lots of brown boots and shoes too.

Shades of Green

This year we will see shades of green everywhere. Sage green, olive green, dark green, and army green are great shades for fall and winter.

Think of these shades of green as options for handbags and shoes if you don’t like to wear green near your face. They pair beautifully with many other colors that we typically wear in the cooler months.

60’s

Some people are referring to this trend as the “ladies who lunch” trend for fall 2024 fashion. Think the classic shift dresses and Jackie O with a modern twist. Ladylike silhouettes for dresses and skirts paired with classic pumps. Oh, I can’t wait.

Plaid

Plaid is one of those classic wardrobe staples. This year we are going to see it in the form of coats, blazers, pants, skirts, and more. Plaids will be in all sizes and colors. If you are petite I suggest you stick with smaller plaids. Larger patterns can be overwhelming on a small frame.

Wardrobe pieces You may want to add

Denim

Last fall we saw the trend of the denim midi skirt. It was around some this summer too. It will be back again this fall. You will see it paired with boots and sweaters soon.

The wide leg jeans are here to stay ladies. At least for a while. If you have not added this style of jeans, then you need to do so for this fall. You will see them paired with boots, kitten heels, and loafers.

Faux Leather

Faux leather is another thing that is here to stay for a while. Thank goodness the quality and feel of it have improved over the last few years. In the fall you will see midi skirts and pants. If it is good faux leather it will give off the same elegant vibes as the soft, supple leather we all used to love wearing.
