How to Have an At Home Winter Spa Day: Time for a Little Pampering

How to Have an At Home Winter Spa Day: Time for a Little Pampering
Taking care of ourselves is important. Let’s face it who couldn’t use a little pampering. Whether you only have an hour to carve out or four hours it is something that we need to do from time to time. I find that when I schedule “me time” I am a better person for me and the people around me. So let’s make a promise to ourselves. We will make time in our schedule for an at home winter spa day.
Yes, let’s block some time on our schedule to take care of “me”. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of being relaxed and rejuvenated after spa treatments. So let’s start planning. Who knows maybe it will even coincide with a snow day. That would make it even better in my opinion.

Let’s Plan The Me Time
Yes, we all love that relaxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated feeling from spa time. It not only does wonders for the body but for the mind too. So let’s walk thru what we need to make happen so that we have that feeling without having to leave home.
- Pick a day and block off some time. It can be one hour or it can be four hours. Whatever you can make happen.
- Make sure that you can totally turn off all electronics during your block of time. Remember, that is what a spa makes you do.
- Plan your food and water for your winter spa day. You can make it ahead of time or you could treat yourself and order something. Make sure you have some water that is infused with fruit just like at the spa. My favorite is Meyer lemon with a little fresh mint.

Time to Set Up Your Space
Now that you have figured out when your me time is going to take place we need to plan where in your home. Hopefully you can shut off your bathroom and bedroom from everyone inlcuding any furry children.
You will want to make sure your space smells like a spa. Yes, make sure you have a couple of your favorite candles on hand for this so that the smell just envelops the room or rooms. My favorite candles for relaxing are this Driftwood and Chamomile by Nest or this Lavender Leaf by Diptyque.
Also don’t forget the music. You will want to make sure that you have relaxing spa music going for the duration of your me time.
Decide on Your Winter Spa Day Treatment Package and Stock Up on Products
Personally I love any and all kinds of pampering treatments. I have written about my clean beauty journey, how I do a home manicure and pedicure, and my favorite clean beauty hydrating face masks which you can read by clicking on the underlines. If you are a shower only kind of gal, then you might want to check out my post on the benefits of taking a hot bath and plan to add one into your at home winter spa day. Who knows you might even add it into your weekly self care routine.
So let’s break this down in case you don’t have a lot of time you can just focus on one or two areas at a time. My gut feeling is that once you start incorporating this me time into your schedule you will want to have it as a recurring appointment. We are just going to start from top to bottom.
Hair
Yes, why not give your hair a little extra TLC. We wash and condition our hair on the regular, but honestly how often do you take the time to do something extra for your hair. It gets dry in the winter from the lack of humidity and cold just like our skin.
One of my favorites to add in every so often is this Christophe Robin cleansing and purifying scrub. This is great for our scalp and it also helps with the buildup of all of our styling products. This line also has a good regenerationg hair mask.
If you are looking for a mask for damaged hair that needs some TLC, then this mask from Briogeo will need to be a part of your winter spa day. Another great product from this line for winter is their Scalp Revival. Yes, this charcoal and coconut oil exfoliation shampoo is fantastic if you have a dry scalp. It stays in our shower all of the time.
Face and Eyes
I have so many face masks that I love to use regularly. Friends laugh when I say that I use one every Wednesday and Sunday. Yes, they are scheduled just like church. For your spa day, let’s keep it simple and just use a good sheet face mask.
Sephora always has great clean face masks. There are so many different flavors to choose from and they are very reasonably priced. Just pick your favorite scent, sit back, relax, and let it do it’s job. Another good face mask to enjoy in the winter is this Dr. Jart+Ceramidin. My dermatologist’s office introduced me to this one and it is great for dry skin in the winter.
Eye masks are always something handy to have in the house. If you are puffy from not enough sleep or you ate too much sodium, then pull one of these out. My favorite eye mask to use is this one. It is also great for dark circles. You can also use this while you are relaxing with a hand or foot treatment.
Hands and Feet
If you are like me, then your hands are in and out of water all of the time in the kitchen. I’m also not very good about wearing gloves when I’m outside in the cold. All of that takes a toll on our hands and cuticles. My favorite hand and nail cream from Caudalie helps tremendously, but an extra TLC does help.
When I use a hand mask there is truly a difference in how the skin on my hands looks. Again, Sephora has the best hand masks. They keep them at the checkout register and every time I am in there a few just jumps into my basket. The mango mask is my favorite. Just love the smell of it year-round. So when you order, make sure you get more than one. You will become addicted to them in the winter.
This foot treatment is a must for any and all winter spa days. Say goodbye to dry cracked heels. Yes, make sure this goes into your cart for your day. Baby Foot exfoliation peel is AMAZING. Yes, you have to sit and relax with this on your feet for one hour. Make sure you have a cup of hot tea and a book so the time will fly by.
When I used this for the first time, I wondered about all of the hype. It said that it could take 5-7 days to work. Well, I started to wonder. However, on the 6th day it started working and kept on working. You just don’t realize how much dead skin are on your feet. Make sure you follow up with their hydrating mask as well. Your feet will thank you for these wonderful treatments.
THANKS
