How To Style Skinny Jeans In A Fresh Way
Are Skinny Jeans Still In Style?
Fashion has a cycle. Classic pieces always come and go. Each time around, there is that tiny tweak. Skinny jeans showed up on the runways during the Fall 2024 shows. Now, we are seeing them offered by most denim lines.
As any good fashion blogger would do, I ordered several pairs to try. I visited with the black skinnies of years past in my closet, tried them on, and then started trying the latest skinny jeans from some of my favorite retailers. The difference I noticed is that this time around, skinny jeans are high waisted. I also noticed that the hem is hitting just above the ankle bone.
What I looked for in a new pair of skinny jeans was plenty of stretch. We are used to wearing straight leg and wide leg jeans that allow for easier movement. I didn’t want to feel like I couldn’t bend down to pick something up off of the floor. The other thing I looked for in my new pair of skinnies was how they made my backside look. If you are going to wear a body hugging silhouette, it needs to look as good as possible from the backside.
Here are several ways that I will be wearing my skinny jeans as a petite woman. Oh, I also decided that the darker washes look better than the lighter washes this time around.
How To Wear Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans are such a versatile staple. You can easily make casual skinny jeans outfits, summer skinny jeans outfits, dressier skinny jeans outfits, and fall/winter skinny jeans outfits. Here are a few of the ways I have styled my new skinny jeans and the ways that I plan to wear them. Yes, I am going to embrace skinny jeans for all seasons of the year.
Classic White Tee and Sneakers

Does it get any easier than a classic white t-shirt, skinny jeans, white leather sneakers, and a favorite lightweight cashmere sweater around your shoulders for a spring day? Keep in mind that you will want a more relaxed fit to your t-shirt for this type of look to balance out the skinny jeans. This supima cotton t-shirt is a favorite of mine and comes in so many colors. Trust me, you will want more than one. The woven crossbody bag is a more relaxed bag for the spring season and goes with everything.
Striped Sweater and Loafers

A slightly oversized striped sweater paired with your favorite skinny jeans and loafers will give off a Parisian inspired vibe. I was missing the red lip for this look, but I’m sure you can envision it.
This is a great cotton sweater that I like to wear in the spring or the fall. I like the versatility of the colors so I can wear it more months out of the year.
Buttondown Shirt and Ballet Flats

A relaxed button down shirt with a sweater draped over your shoulders paired with your favorite skinny jeans and ballet flats is an easy, effortless spring look. You can tuck the button down in or do a half tuck. Whichever you feel looks better on your body.
Oversized Shirt and Loafers

A crisp oversized shirt layered over a take is a great way to wear skinny jeans if you want more coverage on your backside. It is a easy, laid back look. I like the way this oversized shirt is slightly longer in the back than the front and has the side slits.
Silk Blouse & Pointed Toe Heels
If you want to dress up your skinny jeans, try tucking in a silk blouse. Add nude or black heels and finish the look off with some gold jewelry. Oh, and don’t forget a great clutch bag. Here are a few silk blouses that would pair beautifully with skinny jeans.
Graphic Tee and Blazer with Ballet Flats
I love a good white or light beige linen blazer for spring and summer. Just add a fun graphic tee and ballet flats for an elevated casual look. In the fall, pull out your favorite blue or black blazer and add some loafers.
Off-the-Shoulder Top and Strappy Sandals
In the spring and summer, an off-the-shoulder top is perfect to pair with your skinny jeans and a pair of strappy sandals. Just add a clutch and statement earrings and you are ready to go.
Silk Camisole, Linen Blazer and Kitten Heels
If you are looking for a summer-ready, effortlessly elegant skinny jeans look the pair a silk camisole or satin tank (neutral or soft pastel) with a linen blazer. Now you can skip the blazer if you feel comfortable baring skin for this look. Add in some delicate bangles and layered gold necklaces and a top-handle bag. A pair of great kitten heels are the perfect finish to this look.
Monochrome Look
What petite woman doesn’t love the visual elongation of a monochrom look? This would be great as a winter skinny jeans outfit for day or night. In the summer, you can wear a black off- the-shoulder top paired with black skinny jeans and black strappy sandals. In the winter, you can pair your black skinny jeans with a black sweater and boots. Your choice, a heeled bootie or a knee boot with your jeans tucked in.
Cozy Turtleneck and Boots
A slightly chunky turtleneck sweater (tucked in or half tucked) paired with your dark wash or black skinny jeans and suede or leather ankle boots creates a polished fall look.
