Velvet After the Holidays

I just love the feel of a velvet garment. Just one touch and you know that you are going to stay warm. Velvet is synonymous with holiday wear, but don’t think twice about pulling it out all winter long. I believe that I wear my velvet jeans and pants more in January and February than December.

When I pull out my velvet jeans for a more casual look, I like to pair them with something just as soft and warm on top. A cashmere sweater of some sort is my usual go to. The beauty of a pair of velvet jeans is that you can wear them very casually as I am doing here or you can totally turn it up a notch with a beautiful silk blouse so that you are playing off of the sheen of the velvet.

Now let’s talk about the finishing touches for this little outfit. I thought I would add some simple sparkle of a lucite bracelet and earrings that were accented with Swarovski crystals. I have had this set by Alexis Bittar for many years and wear it with so many things. It comes across grey, silver or white depending upon what you are wearing it with. Here’s a similar bracelet and earring from the current collection.  When I saw these snow leopard print mules earlier in the season, I just knew that they belonged in my closet. Most animal prints are brown and black and this color combination just cried out to me. Since the shoes are made of calf hair, I paired them with a simple black calf hair handbag as well.

Happy weekend!
