Holiday Scented Candles You Will Love Having In Your Home

If you have been following me for a while, then you know I love to have a candle burning on my desk while I write. Not just during the holidays, but year-round. So let’s just say I’m pretty good at sniffing out the good candles. Whether you are home alone or entertaining during the holidays it is always nice to have some holiday scented candles scattered around the house.

I’m sharing candles that I have been enjoying in my home during the holidays. Some are newer to my rotation than others, but all of these I would repurchase.

The 5 Best Holiday Scented Candles

Hotel Lobby Aspen

Hotel Lobby Aspen

Aspen is one of the newest additions to my favorites list. It was gifted to me last year, and I am still enjoying it on my desk as I type this post. This candle is like a luxurious getaway in a jar. The inspiration behind this candle is the lobby of the luxurious Hotel Jerome. Think cedarwood, tooled leather, snow-capped pines, and crackling fireplaces. I like this candle because the scent has a sophisticated elegance to it. So it is perfect for quiet evenings (or days) or when you are hosting a dinner party. This candle has a robust scent throw, so you can use it in larger rooms.

Votivo Red Currant

Red Current

Red Currant is not a holiday season-only scent. It is vibrant and refreshing with a fruitier holiday scent. Tart current is mixed with floral and citrus tones, so it is bright, yet cozy.

I like it because it doesn’t feel overly holidayish, so you can enjoy it year-round. If you are burning it at the holidays, pair it with some fresh greenery to enhance the smell of the candle and the greenery.

Thymes Frasier Fir

The Frasier Fir candle is my way of getting the smell of a live Christmas tree into my home. With two cats and a husband who has allergies, we are an artificial Christmas tree kind of home. There is no better way to get that fresh-cut Christmas tree smell into your home than this candle. It has the perfect balance of Siberian fir, cedarwood, and earthy undertones. This one is a holiday must for every home.

The best part of this candle is that it gives you the smell of a real tree without all of the needle cleanup at the end of the holiday season. Use this candle near your Christmas tree while you are decorating. The scent will leave you with a smile on your face.

Voluspa Crushed Candy Cane

Who doesn’t have childhood memories of eating candy canes at the holidays? Crushed Candy Cane is a fun and nostalgic scent to have around the house for that reason. The sugary peppermint scent is like stepping into a winter candy shop. Just think, no extra calories either.

This fun, bold fragrance is great for small spaces like bathrooms or cozy reading nooks.

Nest Holiday

Nest Holiday is that classic holiday candle. It is truly a quintessential festive fragrance with notes of pomegranate, mandarin orange, pine, cloves, and cinnamon.

I like this holiday classic because it is a balance of sweet and spicy. That makes it the perfect scent for any holiday celebration. If you are having guests over it is a great candle to light near your entryway for a cheerful scent to welcome them into your home.

The 3 Candle Accessories Everyone Needs

A high-quality candle can elevate your home, whether you are home alone or hosting friends and family. Taking care of your candles will make sure that they burn beautifully and last longer. Here are my three must-have accessories for candles:

  • Candle Warmer: These are game changers. Instead of lighting the wick, the warmer will warm the wax from below, so no soot or smoke. A candle warmer is great for homes with kids or pets for safety reasons. Another benefit is that they extend the life of your candles since there is no wasted wax. So use one of these for your expensive candles that you want to savor as long as possible.
  • Wick Trimmer: I use one of these all of the time. A wick trimmer makes your candle burn cleanly and evenly. If you trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before you light it each time, then you reduce the amount of smoke, and it will also prevent your wick from curling.
  • Candle Snuffer: This little tool is a must-have if you don’t like the smoke when you blow out your candles. If you snuff the flame, you won’t create smoke or splatter the wax. Also, snuffing the candle keeps you from messing up the surface of your candle with little soot particles. Snuffers are pretty, so not only are they functional, but decorative. Keep it out near your candles.

Having the right holiday scented candles in your home this time of year can make a huge difference. Whether you are hosting family, celebrating with friends, or enjoying a quiet evening by the fire, there is a great candle for it. Candles are such an easy way to bring festive cheer into every corner of your home.
