I will be honest and say that I have different pricepoints of cashmere sweaters in my wardrobe. From reasonably priced that I wear on the regular to some expensive ones that I have had for many years. All of them have a purpose in my wardrobe.

Everyone has a budget. What we want to make sure that we get when buying a cashmere sweater is the best quality that we can find for our money. I know I hate it when I have a sweater that I love to wear and it starts to pill and you have to constantly get rid of the little balls.

They have some great resrouces that can explain why there are so many differences and nuances with cashmere garments. I love the two simple tests that they suggest so that you can tell the quality of the garment.

Rub the palm of your hand on the garment and see if the fibers start rolling into little balls.
Stretch the garment side to side to see if it snaps back into its original shape.

I always like to shop with retailers who have been selling cashmere for many years. To me, that is a sign that consumers keep going back for the product.

Don’t underestimate how often you will wear a short-sleeved cashmere sweater. Not only are they great layering pieces to have, but they are great stand-alone to wear in the spring. Another cashmere piece that is good to have in a classic sweater vest. You can pair it with a tee, button down, or wear it alone. Last but not least is a cashmere cardigan. They are so handy to throw around your shoulders in the evening when you are wearing a sleeveless dress.

I love to find a good cashmere sweater on sale each year and now is the time to do just that.Here are some cashmere sweaters that are great additions to any petite woman’s wardrobe.

How To Wash Cashmere Sweater?

I know. So many of us have been trained by those little tags inside our sweaters for years. Dry clean only; however, a few years ago I started washing my cashmere sweaters and have never looked back. Here’s how I wash my cashmere and wool sweaters to keep them looking their best.

Unless I have spilled something on my sweater or worn it several times and need to freshen it I don’t launder my sweaters often. I will use a spray like this to freshen it before folding it and putting it back in the drawer. I always like to wash my sweaters at the end of the season before I tuck them into a drawer for a few months.

Pretreat Stains

I always give my sweaters a good once-over to see if there are any stains. I also sniff the underarm areas to see if they need a little extra attention. I like to use this gentle stain remover on my sweaters. All you have to do is quirt it on and rub it in.

Handwash

Handwashing is always best for nice sweaters. You can fill a sink or plastic bin with cold water and add a mild detergent. I always use this liquid detergent that is designed for wool and cashmere. You want to submerge the sweater completely in the water and gently agitate it. You don’t want to squish it or wring it. I usually let my sweaters soak for about 15-20 minutes.

Rinse the sweater with water until it runs clean. You want to run the water through the sweater don’t over agitate it.

Drying Your Cashmere Sweater

How you dry your sweater is just as important as how you handwash it. You want to make sure the sweater maintains its shape. Get a large towel and lay it on a counter or the floor. Shape your sweater so that it is laying flat on the towel and then gently roll the towel to get rid of the excess water. To finish drying I always lay my sweaters on one of these flat racks. If the cashmere sweater has some wrinkles I will lightly steam them out before I fold the sweater to put it away ready for its next wear.
