Clean White Sneakers Look So Good

White sneakers are timeless and always in style. Yes, the first Keds white rubber-soled sneakers were made in 1916. Needless to say, sneakers have changed and improved in many ways since then. However, the concept is still the same. White sneakers can be canvas or leather. Either type works, just depends upon what you prefer. I

Your white sneakers look great when they are just out of the box. If you wear them as often as I do you may not get to keep them looking like they just came out of the box, but you can keep them looking nearly new for a long time. Over the years I have tried many cleaners and attempts to keep my sneakers clean. Some things worked well and others didn’t. So I thought I would share the things that are working for me now.

Easy Tips To Keep Them Clean

There are a few things you can do to keep your sneakers looking good as new. I’m all about prevention. When you get a new pair of canvas or fabric sneakers you will want to use a stain and water repellant on them. I like this particular repellant because it is water-based and eco-friendly. Using this doesn’t mean that they will remain spotless, but it does help a lot with staining. I try to avoid washing them until it is absolutely necessary.

If you like nice leather sneakers one of the best things that you can do for them is to treat them with a leather conditioner like this. You want to keep the leather soft and it will also help to protect the leather from stains.

My Favorite Go-To Cleaning Products

Old-fashioned warm water and a rag can go a long way in keeping your sneakers clean. Yes, even add an old toothbrush into the mix to get into the crevices. That is how we did it for many years. Now there are so many products on the market that make cleaning them so much quicker and easier.

  • This instant sneaker cleaner eraser is a miracle worker on white soles. Let’s face it, that is where you get the most scuffs and stains. A little water and a little gentle erasing and wala! These are easy to pack and take with you so when you are traveling you can always have clean sneakers.
  • Who doesn’t love the convenience of a wet wipe? Well, these wipes are made for shoes and sneakers AND they are 100% skin-safe. Yes, no harmful chemicals on your skin or your leather. They are great for removing dirt and build-up. I would always recommend spot cleaning first with anything if it is on expensive leather shoes. So far I have had no issues with cleaning my sneakers.
  • If all else fails and you have a spot that you either left on too long or is just stubborn (Georgia red clay can be that way) this white marker will touch up your white soles with no problem.
