What Color Shoes To Wear With Navy Dress

I love to think of navy blue as a softer neutral to black. Most women always think of black as their go-to for dresses and trousers, but navy blue is just a valuable for your closet. This post is going to show you that there are so many options for styling a navy dress.

ou can wear a navy dress with everything from ballet flats to espadrilles to your favorite pumps, depending on the style of dress and occasion. And don’t worry, you can also wear a navy dress with white sneakers. Not only are the styles of shoes numerous, but so are the colors.

Does Navy Blue Go Well With Everything

Navy blue is a wardrobe MVP. It is quite versatile, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind when you are pairing it with a navy dress.

  • Navy can clash with some blues. If they are too close in tone and not quite matching it doesn’t look good together.
  • If your navy is light and the black is dark, it will look off. However, if you pair a deep navy with black it can be oh so chic.

Black Shoes

Since pairing navy blue and black can be a bit tricky, let’s talk about it first. Plus, most women have multiple pairs of black shoes. You can pull the look off seamlessly by keeping a few things in mind.

  • Add contrast with texture. So if your navy dress is smooth, pair it with a suede or patent leather shoe. Plus, a touch of shine from patent leather adds visual interest and elevates your look.
  • Keep the occasion in mind. For formal looks, pointy toe pumps or sleek sandals work great. For daytime casual dresses pair your dress with black loafers, ankle boots or ballet flats.

Let’s talk about one of the most common pairings when it comes to navy dresses. A simple, classic sheath dress. We can pair it with black pointy-toe pumps in leather, suede, or patent leather. You can also do a slingback in a kitten heel like I did above. Remember to add a handbag in the same texture for a cohesively styled look.

White Shoes

White sneakers with a casual navy dress. Yes! This combination is fresh, modern, and comfortable. You can wear this combination for travel, casual outings, and even casual Fridays at work, depending upon the office vibe.

This combination works best with t-shirt dresses, tank dresses, shirt dresses, and midi dresses. The key is choosing the right sneaker style to go with your dress.

Classic low-profile sneakers (white leather or canvas) are perfect for a clean, minimal look. Think of the classis such as Veja, Superga, and Keds.

Chunky or platform sneakers are great if you want to add a little height and edge. I love this sneaker for that reason. You want to make sure your dress has a sporty vibe to if if you are adding in this type of sneaker to balance the look.

Here are some of my favorite sneakers to wear with dresses.

Nude or Neutral Shoes

Nude or beige shoes always elongate the leg. Always a good thing for petites. If you are really wanting to make your legs look longer, then try to find a shade of “nude” that is close to your skin tone. One of my favorite sources for nude pumps is Ally Shoes because they make nine shades of nude pumps. You can use code BETH10 for 10% off your perfect nude pumps.

Nude or beige shoes are ideal for the office or daytime events. They are always an understated elegance choice. This color choice will keep the focus on your dress and not your accessories.

Red Shoes

Red shoes are always a fun pop of color, especially with a navy dress. When pairing your navy dress with red shoes you will want to stick with classic red, burgundy (for fall and winter), or cherry tones.

Since you are adding this pop of bold color, you will want to keep your other accessories minimal. This way, your shoes can do all of the talking. A swipe of your favorite red lipstick can tie the entire look together effortlessly.

Metallic Shoes

Who doesn’t like a little shimmer or sparkle on their feet? Metallic shoes are perfect for evening events, holiday parties, or formal events.

Gold will add warmth and glam to your navy dress. Silver will add a cooler edge to your look and is perfect for formal events. Rose gold also pairs beautifully with navy for a soft, feminine touch. This metallic color is great for weddings or romantic dates. Remember to add a clutch or jewelry in the same metallic color for a cohesive look.

Trust me, if you don’t have a pair of gold sandals for summer, you need to add a pair to your closet. You can check out my favorites for the season. This includes sandals, wedges, pumps, and more.

Green Shoes

Together, navy blue and green are an unexpectedly chic color combination. I love navy and green paired together in the spring. There is just something so fresh about that combination for me. Emerald or spring green is not the only shade of green that looks good with navy.

Hunter green is a rich shade of green that is great for fall and winter. Mint or sage green can add a more trendy vibe. If you have a favorite shade of green, try it with navy and see how you like it.

Light Blue Shoes

Light blue shoes with a navy dress are still a monochromatic look. Think of it as a playful monochromatic look. The lighter shades of blue will add interest without overwhelming your outfit. So for this take on the navy dress think shades of blue like powder blue, baby blue, or icy blue tones.

This color combination works well with navy dresses for garden parties, showers, or any of your casual spring/summer soirees. One thing to keep in mind is that you will want to keep all of your accessories in similar cool tones. So look to silver, white, or soft gray to pull the look off flawlessly.

Navy Shoes

Pairing navy shoes with a navy dress is a polished and refined look that is timeless. You can wear an exact match of navy and navy, or you can go for a slight contrast. If your shoes are not an exact match, just make sure that the tones complement each other.

A great way to wear navy and navy is to mix in some texture or detail. Patent leather shoes, suede shoes, or velvet shoes add dimension to your outfit. Another option is to opt for a navy shoe that has an interesting detail. It could be a bow, a buckle, or embroidery.
