It is always nice to be able to add or take away easily. Before we dive into this year’s spring wardrobe essentials here are a few other posts you might want to check out.

Spring Wardrobe Classics: Pieces That Will Make Getting Dressed Easier

Classic wardrobe pieces are simple, yet elegant pieces. They are the workhorses of your wardrobe. Think neutral colors, simple lines, not too long, not too short. So let’s translate that into some spring essentials you should have in your closet.

Spring Essentials

Having spring essentials is important because they will make getting dressed easier. Yes, no matter what weather Mother Nature decides for the day, you will have something that you will be comfortable in and look put together.

Transitional Shoes

Boots season is over. Sandal season isn’t quite here yet. So transitional shoes it is. These are shoes that can still provide a little warmth but don’t require socks of any sort. Think loafers, ballet flats, and mules. They also come in handy in the summer when you need a pedicure.

Striped Shirt

A vertically striped shirt is a classic and a BFF for a short girl. Classic blue and white stripes never go out of style and they give us the illusion of height. The collar size might change a little, but when you find one that fits great buy it. You will have it for many years to come. Also, add in some fun vertical stripes in brighter colors or maybe something with a ruffle to it.

Layering Tees and Tanks

Layering tees and tanks are a must. They are the foundation of so many spring outfits. We need to check these at the beginning of each spring. Make sure that they don’t have stains or are showing wear. I know that I just replaced a couple of my favorites. I recommend having a higher neck like I am wearing above and either a v-neck or scoop neck. Once you find one that fits, buy it in white and black. You won’t regret it.

It’s also nice to add in some colors and sleeveless tanks. I know I like wearing sleeveless tanks under sweaters and sweater jackets.

Lightweight Knits

Cotton and lightweight sweaters come out in March for me. By that time each year, I am ready to say goodbye to my favorite wool and cashmere sweaters from winter. Colors are lighter and brighter. Most of them are cotton. I must add that a lightweight cashmere short-sleeved sweater can come in handy in the spring.

Consider adding a lightweight cardigan to your spring wardrobe. You may be surprised how often you wear it as a jacket. The other nice thing about lightweight sweaters is that you can throw them over your shoulders when wearing dresses.

Casual Slacks

A great pair of casual cotton slacks is a nice change up from jeans. We are still casual and the pants are very versatile. You can pair them with sneakers or another transitional shoe of your choice. I like to wear a cute cropped pant in the spring. They can be a regular straight leg or a wide leg.

I do find that wide-leg pants are cooler once the weather heat up. Those leg openings allow for a little more breeze. They are also a great option if you don’t like to wear shorts.

Fashion Sneakers

Sneakers are everywhere. You can wear them with pretty much everything from jeans to dresses. You will see retro-style sneakers, white sneakers, court sneakers, and athleisure sneakers. Find a style or two you like on your feet and you will be amazed at how often you can wear them.
