Petite Travel Clothes For All Your Adventures

Each of us has our unique style and favorite things to wear. Some of us are pants girls all the way, while others are skirts and dresses kind of gals. Doesn’t matter if you are team pants or dresses there are a few style tips and tricks that make traveling more comfortable.

So before we dive into some petite travel clothes outfits I am going to share a few tips to keep in mind when you are planning your next adventure.

How To Travel In Style and Comfort When You Are Petite

It doesn’t matter if you are traveling near or far. When you arrive it is nice to look put together. You don’t want to look like a big wrinkle that has slept in her clothing (even if you have). Here are some things to keep in mind for arriving in style while staying comfortable during your travels.

Layer Smartly for Changing Temperatures

When we are traveling, we can easily go from one climate to another, so you want to be prepared for that. The other thing that we have to keep in mind is that planes, trains, cars, and airports can have unpredictable temperatures. Usually on the chilly side. So having having layers that are easy to remove and pack are always a good idea.

An easy example is a fitted tee with a lightweight sweater paired with a long cardigan or cropped jacket will keep you warm and looking great.

Choose High-Waisted Bottoms For a Flattering Fit

High waisted pants, leggings, or joggers are always a good idea. They will be comfortable for long travel days and they will elongate your legs.

Look for soft, stretchy fabrics that move with you, and make sure the waistband is comfortable and not too tight.

Go for A Monochromatic or Streamlined Look

Dressing in one color from head to toe is always a good thing when you are petite, and works so well for travel too. Think pants and a sweater in the same neutral color, a sweater dress with tights, or even joggers with a matching shirt or lightweight jacket.

Choose Shoes That are Comfortable and Easy To Slip On/Off

When going through TSA you have to have something easy to get on/off. Plus it is nice for long flights so you can easily slip your compression socks on for comfort. For travel days, stick to sleek, stylish sneakers, ballet flats, or loafers. You want to make sure that they are comfortable for lots of walking and something that you can wear once you get to your destination.

Pick the right travel bag

Ahhh finding the right tote bag for travel days. We want something that fits all of our travel essentials and that layer we may need to take on or off, but we don’t want the bag to be too big because it will overpower our petite bodies. Plus it is so easy to put so much stuff in it that it becomes heavy to lug around.

You will want to opt for a compact tote like this one. The other option is if you have a wheeled carry-on bag that has some room in it for your travel essentials, opt for a structured crossbody bag or belt bag so you can be hands-free.

I have rounded up great crossbody bags for travel so you don’t look like a tourist or you may even want to consider a sleek backpack for long travel day trips.

What To Wear For Traveling When You are Petite

Now it is time to put together some petite travel clothes so that you will be comfortable and look great when you arrive at your destination. I try to find as many things in true petites sizes as possible. If not, I have brands that I find to be petite-friendly. So whether you are looking for travel pants, hiking pants, joggers, or comfortable dresses there is a scenario below to inspire you.

I am going to start with a couple of my go-to outfits for my petite travel clothes.

Ponte Knit Pants with a sweater and Trench Coat

Trench Coat | Sweater | Pants | Ballet Flats

Ponte knit pants are one of my favorite types of pants to wear on travel days. They work year round. The stretchy knit fabric and elastic waistband are so comfortable for long days, and you don’t arrive with lots of wrinkles. I pair them with cashmere sweaters or cotton sweaters.

Add a classic ballet flat and a trench coat and you have one classic petite travel look.

Ankle Pant with a Fitted Tee and Cotton Sweater

The midrise pants are a must if you travel much. I can see why they have over 18,000 4.5-star reviews. The fabric is lightweight and comfortable. They pair with your favorite sneakers. All you need is a comfortable shirt, and you have the perfect petite travel clothes to make an outfit. Plus, these pants are so comfortable that you will wear them while you are on your adventures.

Matching Knit Set

A matching sporty knit set is always an easy option for travel clothes. They are cozy, and you still look put together when you arrive. Easily pairs with your favorite sneakers that you will be wearing while you are away.

High Waisted Leggings and a Long Cardigan

T-shirt | Boots | Long Cardigan | Leggings | Scarf | Loafers

These leggings are my favorite fleece-lined leggings for cold weather. You can pair them with a long-sleeved t-shirt and put a long cardigan over them to complete the look. Add a scarf to give it a little more polish and pizazz. Add a pair of ankle boots to keep your toes toasty or a pair of loafers.

All of the petite travel clothes in the collage above are in my closet. The t-shirt and leggings I have in multiple colors. The long cardigan acts as a coat for me in the early fall. I can walk for miles in the boots and loafers. Both shoes are so comfortable. Now the cashmere and wool scarf is something that should go with you on every trip.
