Nail Polish Colors For Fall And Winter

I am a big fan of keeping my nails polished regardless of the season. Have been that way since I can remember. Luckily, I have strong, healthy nails. Keeping them trimmed and polished is my way of keeping them looking their best. It is something that I have to do often because my nails grow so quickly. Also, I like to keep them rather short since I am always typing away on the keyboard. Having great nail polish colors at home is important to me so I can change things up. I also take mine to the salon with me when I go.

Choosing the best nail polish colors to complement your skin tone is key. So if you often wonder what color or colors look best on fair skin, this post is for you. I am going to break down the best neutrals and nail polish colors for pale skin. That way no matter what the occasion your nails will look great and complement whatever you are wearing.

Why My Nails Are So Healthy

I will be honest in that I rarely have a nail to split, crack, or break. Lucky? Maybe. Those of you who follow me know that I have a very healthy diet and drink lots of water. I do think that helps. However, I also think that this hair supplement by Nutrafol that I take daily also helps. I know it is a hair supplement. However, since I have been taking it I also noticed a difference in my nails. Take my experience for what it is worth. If you have hair issues, then you might want to try it and see if it helps your nails too.

Here are some great tips from the American Academy of Dermatology on how to keep your nails healthy. Our nails are truly a sign of our overall health so let’s keep them as healthy as we can.

Another product that recently discovered and love for my nails is this cuticle exfoliator from Butter London. So easy to use on your cuticles between salon visits and it really does the trick. Personally, I don’t like to cut my cuticles unless they are really bothering me. This keeps them in check without the trimming.

Fall 2023 Nail Polish Colors

Typically fall and winter nail polish colors tend to be deeper and warmer. You usually see some variation of reds, navy blue, browns and grays. Of course, each year there is always that slight variation in the colors that each of the nail polish manufacturers produce. So for Fall 2023 nail polish colors you are seeing everything from earthy and natural tones, to deep shades, to metallics.

Colors That Look Best on Fair Skin

Fair skin is not a “one size fits all” description. Every person’s skin tone is unique to them. What is important to know is your skin’s undertones. If you don’t know, then this article will help you determine that easily.

In general, light neutral shades look great on fair skin. Think pale grey, ivory, soft whites, and soft beiges. Soft muted shades and pastels also work well with fair skin.

When it comes to nail polish colors think. Corals, browns, some reds and burgundies, as well as, turquoise or navy. It just depends on how comfortable you feel with bold colors on your nails.

As a person with petite hands and feet, I prefer neutrals on my fingers and bold and bright on my toes. Also, if my nail polish chips on my fingers it doesn’t show as easily.

Great Neutral Nail Colors

I have rounded up some great neutral colors that work well year-round. Some of the soft beiges and greys like this creamy nude beige and this grey are what you will see me wearing this fall and winter. I try to warm the hands up to coordinate better with my fall and winter clothing colors. I will say that my all-time favorite neutral pinkish beige polish to wear with my fair skin (yes, year round) is Put It In Neutral from OPI. My next favorite neutral for fall and winter is this beige.

Here are some great neutrals to choose from that will be great for this fall.

nail polish Colors to Wear This Fall and Winter

Ok, now let’s add some color and fun to our nail polish colors choices for this season. Whether you are going to the nail salon to get a manicure and pedicure or you are wanting to add a trending color to your at home collection here’s what to look for.

This season’s take on shades of brown is espresso. Yes, this is the neutral tone of the season. This is going to be a deeper, warmer neutral that will coordinate with most fall fashion.

The last few years we have been seeing various shades of green for nail polish. This season’s take on green is olive green. If you think about it, it is a great color to complement all of the browns, burgundies, and oranges in your fall wardrobe.

Indigo Blue

Think of your favorite pair of blue jeans and how often you wear them. They go with everything in the fall and winter. Now think of the color on your nails. Whether it’s your tips or your toes, this is another shade that will coordinate with most of the colors in your fall and winter wardrobe.

Deep Reds

There is always a shade of red every fall and winter. Red is probably my favorite variation to wear on my toes. For some reason that is what I always gravitate to year round.

This fall and winter we are seeing deep, dark reds. Think of your favorite shade of red with a little bit of black added to it to give it depth.

Don’t Forget Your Base and Top Coats

Over the years, I have learned that it is best to use the base and top coat for the brand of polish that you are wearing. There must be something in the formulations that just make things work better that way. You have probably noticed that I mentioned three brands of polish in this post. So if you purchase a polish color, then I would suggest that you get their base and top coats to go with it. It doesn’t go bad so you will have it for a long time.
