Best Anti Aging Hand Creams For Wrinkles And Dryness

It’s the time of year that my hands just can’t get enough hydrating skincare and TLC. Seems like every time I turn around I am searching for a bottle or tube of hand cream. The cold temps, wind, and lower humidity levels just wreak havoc on our hands. Combine that with all of the hand washing we do to keep germs away and you have hands that are not looking their best. That is when I pull out all of the “big guns”. Yes, the best anti aging hand creams that I can find.

The search is real to find that great balance in a hand cream. You want one that works but isn’t so greasy that you leave prints everywhere you go. So over the years I have tried several and am rounding up some of my favorites.

Before we talk about keeping our hands looking their best here are some other beauty posts you might want to check out.

Why Use The Best Anti Aging Hand Creams That We Can

Our hands do a lot for us every day. They deserve proper care too. As women, we are always making sure that we take care of the skin on our face, neck, and decollate. Sometimes we forget that our hands are also an area that can show signs of aging.

Yes, the skin on the backs of our hands is rather thin and fragile. That skin loses collagen and elastin as we age just like the skin that we pamper so much. So why not find hydrating hand creams that you can easily add to your daily routine?

One of the things that we don’t always think about is how often our hands are in water. I know it seems like I am always washing my hands. Ever since 2019, I think that many of us have become more cognizant of how important it is. Remember how the CDC came out with guidelines everywhere about when and how to wash your hands? I know some of those things have stuck with me so I now pay even more attention to the way I treat my hands after washing them.

When You Should Apply Hand Cream

The minimum number of times to apply hand cream daily is twice. Once in the morning and once in the evening. However, if you have dry hands and you want to keep them looking their best you should use hand cream more often.

Every time you wash your hands you are stripping them of moisture. So dermatologists recommend that you break out the lotion every time you wash your hands or have them in water. It is best to use your lotions while your hands are still damp so that you can lock in the moisture. The best time is within two minutes of washing your hands.

How Much Hand Cream Should You Use Each Time

It doesn’t take much hand cream to be effective. A pea-sized amount can be placed on the back of your hand so that you can massage it into both hands. You want to make sure that you not only get the backs of your hands but also want to rub the lotion into your cuticles.

Remember the thicker the hand cream, the less that it takes. If you use too much your hands can feel greasy and slick. You want to save those really thick creams to put on just before you go to bed so they can work all night long.

My Favorite Spots To Keep My Hand Creams

Yes, I keep hand creams all over. You just never know when you are going to look down and realize it’s time to give them a little drink of hydration. If it is handy, then it becomes a good habit that you will keep up because it is easy.

One thing that I do like to do is peruse the travel size section at Target or your favorite drug store for travel size. These come in handy for your car and your handbags.

If you come to my house here are the spots you will find the best anti aging hand creams ready for use.

  • My bedside table
  • In my desk drawer
  • The main powder room
  • The drawer near the kitchen sink
  • Travel size in my handbag makeup bag
  • The console of my car

I know that may seem like I am a little OCD about this, but it works. I have made it so easy that now I don’t have to go searching for it. Thus, I keep my hands hydrated and happy.

The Best Anti Aging Hand creams That I Have Tried

I must admit that I have different hand creams in different locations. There are times that I like to have scented lotions on and other times I prefer no scent. Sometimes you need a heavier cream than others. You just have to find the ones that work for your hands.

I have tried several hand creams to keep my hands hydrated over the years and here are the ones that I find myself repurchasing.

Cerave Therapeutic Hand Cream has been on my radar screen for years. My dermatologist always recommends ALL of their products. Needless to say, this hand cream is always in my arsenal. It is marketed for chapped, cracked skin. Who wants to wait until they get into that kind of shape to search for something that is so moisturizing?

One of my favorite things about this Cerave and all Cerave products is that they are fragrance free. That is so important if you have really dry or cracked skin because the fragrances can further irritate it.

This particular Cerave product is not always at the local drugstore or in the grocery aisle. I have checked many times. I usually order it at Amazon.

I LOVE this hand and nail cream. It is always somewhere in my home. Usually in my desk drawer. It has a nice light scent to it that I find quite relaxing.

It is full of antioxidants. The shae butter and grapeseed oil make it super hydrating. Not only does it make my hands look and feel good, but it is great on dry cuticles in the winter. If you try this one make sure you rub it into your cuticles. You can always find it at Sephora or Amazon.

Supergoop Hand screen SPF40

Sometimes we think of this as a summertime must when we are poolside. Think again. This is good to have this in the mini size in your car year-round. If you drive a lot you get so much sun through the windshield.

This hand cream with SPF40 is a must-have in everyone’s hand cream collection. It is so easy to get sun damage on the back of our hands (those pesky brown spots that show our age). You can always find this at Sephora or Amazon.

Necessaire Hand Cream

If you like clean beauty products, then this is a hand cream for you. What makes this hand cream even more effective is the Hand Retinol cream that complements it. Yes, it is a little pricier. What I will say is that with both of the products it takes a very small amount.

This is best used together before bedtime so that the products have time to work without being washed away. Just beware, any hand retinol cream is going to have a little smell to it. That is just the way that it is. There is a slight smell to it, but once I top it with the hand cream which is fragrance-free free I don’t notice it as much.

You can shop for the Necessaire hand cream and hand retinol at Sephora. The other place you can find the hand cream and hand retinol is Amazon.

LdeL Skincare Cosmetics Retinol

This Retinol hand cream is a best seller on Amazon. It has over 5,000 4.5-star ratings. This is a great hand cream for wrinkles and aging hands. It is marketed as an anti-aging hand cream because its vitamin-enriched formula contains Retinol Vitamin A and E, green tea extract for antioxidant benefits, and glycerin to replenish and hydrate your hands.

I have tried this lotion and it made my hands feel good. The reason that I don’t use it often is that there is a strong smell to it. My cat Fluff does not like the smell of this lotion and tries to lick it off my hands. Since it is not a clean lotion I don’t want to use a product that could bother his tummy. Trust me, he has enough tummy issues on his own.
