Looking for a classic pump to add to the closet that has a little personality? The Sarah Flint Jay Pumps will do exactly that. We all have pumps of various heights and colors in our shoe closet. After all, they are a year round go to.
The Jay Pump was inspired by 1940s and 1950s fashion. It has the timeless pointed toe silhouette and a sexy V-shaped vamp. The heel on the classic colors is done in a glossy tortoise finish, making them into a go to neutral with a little pizazz.
The Jay Pump is available in an 85mm (which is what I’m wearing) or 100mm. It is stocked in black and navy suede year round. Sarah also produces small batches of limited editions in this style that can vary from fabric to embossed leathers.
Sarah Flint, the Designer
A lady after my shoe loving heart. Sarah loved shoes since she was a little girl and started selling shoes at a local boutique in Massachusetts when she was in high school. She went to Parsons and while there knew that her love was accessories so she transferred to FIT to pursue those dreams. While interning at Proenza Schouler she realized that she wanted to niche down to shoes and then went to study at the famous Ars Sutoria leather goods school in Milan.
Once back in New York, she designed in the mornings and worked as a nanny in the afternoons. At the age of 25 she launched her brand. The rest is history.
Her line now includes amazing silk scarves, hair accessories, and stationery. This past year she also added table linens and select home decor pieces.
What Makes Her Shoes So Special
Ok, everyone wonders why I am always gushing about how comfortable her heels are. When you are 5’0 tall heels tend to be a very good friend. I’ve tried many brands and I always come back to Sarah’s heels for these reasons.
- Expanded Toe Box so your tootsies stay comfortable all day long with a little extra room.
- Anatomical Arch Support. As we age, many times we have issues with our arches. This makes it so that heels are comfortable for you.
- 6mm of extra footbed padding. Helps when you are standing and walking for any length of time.
- Tapered Heel. This feature adds a little more stability and the design helps make them unique among a sea of pumps.
Sarah Flint Sizing
One of the things that I love so much about Sarah Flint shoes is that she starts her sizing at a US 4. It is challenging for women with petite feet to find pretty shoes. (You can read more about that challenge here.) I should know since I wear a US 5 and sometimes have to go down to a US 4.5 if a shoe runs large. What I will say is that the fit notes she has on each of the styles really helps with sizing. In the Jay Pump, the Perfect Pump, and the Natalie I wear my regular size. In the Perfect Zip bootie and the Rose I size down a half size like they suggest.
If you still have questions after reading the fit notes about a particular style, then give their customer support a call at 866-237-8760. Her staff is very well versed on every style and can make suggestions for you.
