Gingham fabric has been around for forever, dating back to the 18th century in Europe. Gingham shirts for women became popular in the 1960s. I have been looking for a gingham shirt for the last few years that was in a scaled pattern that I felt looked appropriate on my small frame. Trust me, I have tried and tried. Oh so many try-ons and returns.
Gingham and warm weather are just synonymous so my hunt continued. This year I was so excited with I saw this adorable small gingham check on the Anthropologie website It immediately went onto my wishlist. When it arrived I couldn’t believe that I had finally found a gingham shirt that I could add to my closet. I checked and it is now sold out in all sizes.
Today I paired the gingham shirt with another one of my warm weather favorites, white cotton sateen slacks. These slacks have been in my closet for several years now. I have them dry cleaned so that they have that crisp look to them. Every so often I hand wash them in a whites detergent and bleach alternative from The Laundress. When I do that they come out looking like new.
When figuring out my shoes, I decided to play with colors and patterns to make things interesting. The sandal that I have on is from Ann Taylor last year, but this year they have a similar print that would look just as nice. Next came a statement earring. The earring from Alexis Bittar had all of the colors from the shoes so I knew it would tie everything together. Again, these have been in my jewelry drawer for some time and I pull them out every spring and summer.
Are you a gingham gal? Would love to hear about your favorite color combo and styles.
Have a great weekend!
