This Friday I am introducing you to heart healthy dessert for Valentine’s Day. It is easy to prepare and yummy to the eyes. Everyone loves to have a sweet treat, but not the added carbs and unhealthy fats since many of us are still trying to stick to our New Year’s goals.
My husband and I celebrate Valentine’s Day with a lovely dinner at home most years. We may go out a few days before or after, but the day of we are in our home. I prepare a lovely meal which includes dessert versus going to a crowded restaurant.
I was scanning thru the Go Red for Women website again and came across this recipe for Grilled Avocado with Strawberry and Honey. Not only was it a heart healthy dessert that had some red color to it, but it was also gluten free and dairy free. Trust me, that is something that is not easy to come by. A beautiful Valentine’s Day dessert for the Ferguson dinner is planned. I hope mine comes out looking as pretty as theirs next week. If weather isn’t suitable for outdoor grilling, just get out that cast iron grill pan and make it indoors.
Now for the rest of the menu…..I am thinking grilled grouper or pan sautéed snapper (whichever is available) with a chopped salad, and baked potato. All we need to add is some fresh flowers, a couple of candles, and colorful tablescape to set the scene for a lovely dinner at home.
I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day however you choose to celebrate it.
